Big Sky 55+  seeks to employ an energetic, self-motivated, people-oriented Canvass Director. This position will be based in Great Falls, Montana. The Canvass Director will be responsible for managing a team of up to 9 canvassers across a number of different campaigns. Our canvass campaigns will vary from issue-focused, in-person deep canvassing in Great Falls to  canvassing for our endorsed candidates on the 2024 ballot.

We advocate for forward-thinking policies such as health care and economic security for all.

 

Summary of Position

This position will lead our team of 9 full and part-time canvassers to conduct outreach to voters in order to advance economic freedom by building our organization and electing leaders who will support health care access, human dignity, access to affordable housing, fair taxation, and democratic values.

 

The Canvass Director will assist in the development and implementation of a voter engagement plan to encourage Montanans to vote in support of our issues in the general Election.

 

The primary activity of this position will be to lead door-to-door canvassing in and around Great Falls and neighboring areas with a team. Additionally, this position will support Big Sky 55+’s civic engagement and get-out-the-vote (GOTV) efforts through phone calls and texting, and in-person contact with voters.

 

This will be a permanent full-time position employed by Big Sky 55+.

Qualifications/Abilities

• A commitment to the mission and vision of Big Sky 55+

• Two cycles of previous organizing experience preferred

• One year of previous management experience preferred

• Proficiency with voter file databases

• A reliable vehicle

• Valid United States driver’s license and ability to be insured are required

• Ability to productively work with a variety of groups, individuals, and personalities

• Basic computer proficiency is required

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work outside in potentially inclement weather

Compensation

The canvass director is a salaried position. Compensation will be $55,000-$60,000/year DOE.

 

Benefits include fully paid health and dental insurance with optional vision insurance with a modest employee contribution and a generous vacation policy.
